The Conference of Presidents of the Ultraperipheral Regions, launched in 1988, is the main organ of cooperation between the ORs, both politically and technically, to act in a concerted manner in the defense of the status of the outermost regions before national authorities , community, and international.

The recognition of the specific integration regime of the Ultraperipheral Regions in the EU framework implies a constant process of adaptation to the European context and a permanent negotiation with the EU institutions to defend the specialties of these territories and achieve effective equality of opportunities with respect to the rest of citizens of the Union.

With this portal we want to contribute to make visible the special situation of the Ultraperipheral Regions in the EU and their willingness to cooperate expressed at their highest level, represented by the Conference of Presidents of the Ultraperipheral Regions, disseminating information that facilitates the knowledge of the specificities of the RUP, the actions of the Conference of Presidents, the situation of the ORs in the institutional framework of the EU and providing access to the most important documents produced on the ORs (opinions of the Committee of the Regions or the European Economic and Social Council , Communications from the European Commission, etc).
