Publication of the study on living conditions and access to certain basic needs in the outermost regions of the EU

This study provides an overview of populations’ access to a selection of basic needs such as housing, drinking water and sanitation, electricity, heating and cooling, as well as internet and telephone connectivity, in all outermost regions. This study also offers a targeted analysis by region on access to two of these fundamental needs.

It analyzes access levels, the infrastructure in place to enable access, identifies trends, develops a set of indicators to monitor progress and makes recommendations. The study highlights remaining needs, progress made in recent years and highlights EU support, in particular through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
