Next 5-6 October, the Council’s Informal group on Structural Actions and Outermost Regions (SMOR) will meet in Tenerife both under the Spanish Presidency of the Council and Conference of Presidents of the Outermost Regions. During these two days of work, the group will discuss the challenges encountered by the outermost regions in the field of the cohesion policy and change of the multiannual financial framework, as well as other current issues related to immigration, strategic autonomy and vulnerability of these regions facing the changing world economic situation resulting from the successive global crises.
The group will have the chance to visit various projects financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund + (ESF+), where representatives of the 27 Member States will have the opportunity to learn how the outermost regions are using these Funds to address their multiple economic and social challenges.
