The members of the Monitoring Committee (MC) of the Conference of Presidents of the Outermost Regions met on May 23, 24 and 25 at the Delegation of the Government of the Canary Islands in Brussels, under the presidency of this region.

During these three working days, the Committee members have been able to work on the organization of various events taking place during the coming months, in which the ORs will be high on the European agenda, such as the Blue Economy Forum, the EU Sustainable Energy Week, meeting with the President of the European Parliament, presentation by the European Commission on Multi-Annual Financial Framework proposals, specific OR workshop within the framework of the Regio Week and next annual OR President Conference to be held in November in the Canary Islands, among others.

Furthermore, the earliest post-2020 proposals of the European Commission have been analysed, both concerning the Communication from the European Commission regarding the ORs and published in 2017 “A stronger and renewed strategic partnership with the EU’s outermost regions” and the Multiannual Financial Framework post-2020.

Finally, the Committee held a meeting with the OR Unit under the Directorate for Regional Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission focused on the monitoring of actions included in the Communication regarding the ORs.
